Director, Nursing Operations - Full time Faculty Assignment with Release Time
Job Description
We are currently seeking a Director Nursing Operations who will advance the institution’s proud tradition of excellence in academics, student life and community service.
Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Dean of Nursing, the Director will be responsible for the departmental day to day operations of the associate degree and vocational degree nursing programs. The Director will provide oversight for financial data and projected revenues and expenditures for all operating, auxiliary and grants budgets. Maintain records related to operations and services that are complete, accurate, available, and in compliance with all legal, regulatory, policy requirements, and college policy.
DURATION
This will be a 12-month contract, as assigned by VC, Instructional Services & Chief Academic Officer and President.
Four course releases for fall, spring and three releases for the summer sessions.
The Director will be required to teach one course each semester including the summer session.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
In collaboration with the Dean of Nursing and the College Operations Team, Plan, Develop and provide oversight of the annual budget planning process to secure funding for both nursing programs.
When applicable, collaborate with the Dean of Nursing in the application and acquisition of Nursing Shortage Grants.
Manage the day-to-day budget activity for the Nursing Shortage Grants in collaboration with HCC Grants Reporting, Assessment and Planning, Grants Accounting and Compliance and internal audit. This includes periodic communication with the state grantor and includes all grant quarterly reporting utilizing the state’s portal and submission of budget adjustments as needed that support the grant utilizing the Direct pay forms, Spend Down Plans, and Return of funds forms.
Review operating budgets by monitoring annual expenses and identifying and communicating potential budget shortfalls in a timely manner.
Participate in the annual budget planning cycle in adherence with HCC policies and procedures observing year end deadlines and following the annual budget preparation process; submit budget assignments in a timely basis to the college operations team.
Build and maintain working relationships with healthcare partners, community agencies and state and federal partners to create delivery of instructional MOUs ensuring maximum enrollment and revenue.
Collaborate with the Dean in the growth of the Nursing Programs, by ensuring acquisition of the latest technology to advance the curriculum.
Oversee the correct implementation of cohort and block scheduling, resolve discrepancies as they arise and implement corrective action plans as needed.
Collaborate with the Dean of Nursing, faculty, and support staff to facilitate team building and consensus.
Collaborate with the Dean and Nursing faculty to set departmental goals and objectives for faculty so that students are supported.
Conduct instructional and operational review of the nursing programs and meet with appropriate program leads and faculty to discuss cohort progress.
Participate in district-wide committees with administrators and faculty.
Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Credentialed to teach within their discipline based on Southern Associate of Colleges and Schools and HCC requirements
- 3 years’ experience as a full-time faculty required
Licensing & Certification
- Valid Texas Driver License
RESTRICTIONS
Teaching overloads at HCC during the assignment period is prohibited; Adjunct teaching at other institutions is allowed outside normal work hours but not to interfere with performance of the position’s duties.

Working Conditions
General Office.
