Substitute, Part-Time Hourly, Temporary Pool – Instructional Support

DESCRIPTION

This is a pool of applicants for any Instructional Support substitute, part-time hourly, temporary positions that may become available at Napa Valley College.  Applications submitted to this temporary pool will be screened by the Office of Human Resources, Training & Development for minimum qualifications.  These temporary positions are at-will employment.

Possible positions that may fall under this Instructional Support temporary pool are:

  • Instructional Assistant I ($16.00)
  • Instructional Assistant II ($16.21)
  • Instructional Assistant III ($18.10)
  • Instructional Assistant IV ($18.87)

  • Supplemental Instruction Leader ($16.00)
  • Tutor ($16.00)

  • Testing and Tutoring Center Assistant ($16.00)
  • Testing and Tutoring Center Technician ($16.92)
  • Testing and Tutoring Center Specialist ($20.17)

  • Machine Tool Shop Technician ($20.64)
The job descriptions for each job title are:

  • Instructional Assistant I - The primary objective of this position is to assist faculty with instruction and general lab operation.
  • Supplemental Instruction Leader – Provide "Supplemental Instruction" (SI) in selected courses.  Supplemental Instruction specifically refers to an academic assistance program developed by the University of Missouri at Kansas City which increases student performance and retention.
  • Tutor  - Under minimal supervision, provide support to students in tutoring centers. Conduct problem-solving sessions for group of students or provide one-on-one, help if necessary.  Must have prior experience.  Assist with special activities and implement workshops.  Provide academic support.
  • Instructional Assistant II - The primary objective of this position is to assist faculty with instruction and supervision of students in a classroom or lab setting.
  • Testing and Tutoring Center Assistant - The primary objective of this position is to perform a variety of clerical support for the college's Testing and Tutoring Center.
  • Testing and Tutoring Center Technician - The primary objective of this position is to perform a variety of difficult and complex administrative support duties for the Testing and Tutoring Center and to provide support for GED and distance testing.
  • Instructional Assistant III - The primary objective of this position is to assist faculty and provide support services for laboratory and classroom instruction.
  • Instructional Assistant IV – The primary objectives of this position are to assist faculty in classrooms and laboratories and provide discipline-specific support to enrolled students.
  • Testing and Tutoring Center Specialist - The primary objective of this position is to perform a variety of difficult and complex secretarial duties emphasizing administrative detail and departmental tasks, oversee the Testing and Tutoring Center (TTC) office functions as lead worker, and serve as GED Chief Examiner.
  • Machine Tool Shop Technician - The primary objective of this position is to provide support services for laboratory and classroom instruction for the Machine Tool Technology Program.
