Basic Function/Definition

Student Success Coach I’s (SSC I) assist students with the process of being successful in college. They will work within any Division in Academic Affairs and Student Services and will be directed and overseen by a Manager. Student Success Coach I’s assist program students with planning and preparing to attend a two-year and/or four year university/college, completing a Certificate or Associate Degree.

Time commitment:
These are temporary positions based on grant funding. SSC I’s may work up to 19 hours per week.

Essential Duties

  • Closely monitor and communicate with students. Communication may include face-to-face interactions, via phone, email, texting and Internet as necessary; E
  • Act as an informed referral source throughout the academic year, including accompanying students to various resources as needed; E
  • Support students in acquiring and understanding college and financial aid entrance requirements; E
  • Participate in/lead program seminars, workshops and other presentations; E
  • Maintain detailed student contact logs in the database; E
  • Collaborate with fellow Student Success Coach I’s and II’s to develop supplemental projects; E
  • Attend regular meetings and training sessions; E
  • Support the activities of the assigned program as needed. E

Minimum Qualifications/Education and Experience

  • Graduation from high school or GED

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate program

Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an Evaluation Service prior to the closing date. Certification must be attached with copies of transcripts.
